“It's in Apple's DNA that technology alone is not enough. It's technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields the results that make our hearts sing.” - Steve Jobs

There's tremendous value in the humanities. I took literature classes each year in university. My STEM friends thought that was a dumb waste of time, but I found it incredibly valuable. It's a different type of challenge: you don't have to memorize bones or solve problem sets, but you do have to think. Learn to think, and then think hard.

Advice:

  • Guard momentum with your life.
  • Concepts of human biology apply to business.
  • Read widely to build awareness; practice narrowly to build quality.
  • Only listen to a podcast if you'd be okay trading lives with host.
  • Buy two copies of any product you love—books, clothes, shoes, etc.
